Parent-Friendly Schools, brought to you by Parentkind
If a parent positively participates in their child's education, the partnership can contribute an additional four months of academic progress every year. According to research by EEF, the power of parents in education is an opportunity that has yet to be maximised.
Parentkind, the UK’s largest parent charity, is committed to maximising this opportunity for families across our four nations. Where friction and challenge might exist, we want to introduce a positive partnership that creates a strong foundation for children to thrive.
Parent-Friendly Schools is built on five years of evidence-based research with UK schools and launched to all schools in Spring 2025. It’s mission is to bridge home and school for the benefit of all. We are committed to providing guidance, consultation, and training to remove barriers and enhance best practices across UK schools. We believe the social contract between schools and parents is essential to the success of children, and we wish to be a positive force in strengthening this contract.
Parent-Friendly Schools offers an accreditation that helps schools evolve their environment, ethos, and practice, encouraging and enabling parents to contribute to their child’s education.
Based on the Blueprint Framework for Parent Participation, the accreditation service is a three-step journey from Standard Award to Silver Award and onto Gold Award. Our coaches at Parent-Friendly Schools support every school in aspiring to the expert and embedded practice of a Gold Award.
It is easy to get started on your parent participation accreditation journey. We have created a pre-accreditation checker that takes less than three minutes and gives instant feedback on where your school is in our journey.
