Art history A-level will not be discontinued
It has been confirmed that art history a-level will not be discontinued, after a successful campaign to save the subject.
Exam board AQA, the only announced its decision to drop the subject in October, saying it was struggling to recruit "sufficient experienced examiners" to mark and award specialist topics.
This led to over 100 academics to sign a letter calling for the subject to be saved.
At the time, AQA was the only exam board to offer the subject, but, in response to calls to save the subject, Pearson has now confirmed plans to develop a new history of art A-level ready for next September.
