Teachers could earn 40 per cent more with private tutoring
Figures released by the Office for National Statistics show that secondary school teachers could earn almost 40 per cent more if they left the classroom and took up private tutoring.
As reported by Tes, on average private tutors are paid £31.35 per hour according to tuition company Taylor Hunt.
In comparison, secondary teachers are paid £22.73 per hour on average, the Office for National Statistics figures show.
In addition, gender pay gap sees to be lowering in the tutoring sector.
In teaching, full-time females are paid £22.26 per hour, whereas their male colleagues are paid £23.24 per hour.
