D&D Technologies

The world’s leading innovator and manufacturer of premium gate latches, locks and hinges for over 35 years. D&D Technologies has been developing gate-closing systems you can trust, with state-of-the art manufacturing, quality testing and, most importantly, products backed by a guarantee to always perform to their intended use.

With an unbeatable combination of strength, moldability, and durability, it’s little wonder that synthetic polymers are found in everything from consumer products and automotive to industrial applications, aeronautics, telecommunications, and mining.

One industry sector that’s benefiting from the polymer revolution is fencing, especially in gate hardware. Why? Ironically, it’s because metals often have many shortcomings, including the propensity to rust, corrode, wear, bind/stick, deform and distort, to name a few – all the forces against which polymers excel.
And while metal components are generally strong, metals under corrosion will also lose their strength and start to break down and sag losing durability in the face of exposure to the elements.

Quality polymer gate hardware on the other hand maintains its integrity due to a combination of outstanding strength and imperviousness to rust. The benefit to many gate owners and fencing installers is that the necessity for ongoing maintenance and repair is significantly reduced.

Pioneering moulded polymer technology in the gate hardware market and winning many patents and design awards along the way. D&D has cemented its reputation as the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of quality polymer gate hardware products, its market-leading LokkLatch® and MagnaLatch® ranges are complimented by Truclose® self closing hinges. Quality tested to millions of open-and-close cycles in real-world climatic conditions, these polymer products are guaranteed to provide longevity and reliability.

One of the reasons D&D’s products are so durable is that they’re manufactured using virgin polymer materials. First-use nylon pellets reinforced with virgin fibreglass are heated and injected into specially designed pressurised moulds, enabling incredibly strong and finely designed hardware to be mass-produced at exacting quality.

Scott Cosby, D&D Technologies R&D Manager, says “D&D decided almost a decade ago to switch entirely to virgin polymer pellets for our injection moulding process. Our engineered polymers are rigorously tested to withstand the harshest environments and offer the strength and reliability that will outlast and outperform traditionally corrodible materials usually found in fencing.”

There’s no doubt we are all living in a world of polymer products that largely outlast and outperform the multitude of product materials that came before them.
