Free translations of Keeping Children Safe guidance

Edtech charity, LGfL – The National Grid for Learning, has commissioned translations of the Department for Education’s (DFE’s) statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education (Part 1) into thirteen widely spoken community languages.

These free translations are now available to all schools as open-access resources.

The translations include: Arabic, Bengali, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Gujarati, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Punjabi, Romanian, Somali, Spanish (Latin American), Ukrainian and Urdu, and are available to view, download, and print for free from kcsietranslate.lgfl.net.

Commenting on the translated documents, Alex Dave, Safeguarding Education Officer, LGfL, said, ‘The safeguarding team at LGfL recognised the challenge faced by schools in meeting the requirement that ALL staff must have read, and more importantly, understood Part 1 of KCSIE, especially when some staff have English as an additional language. These translations allow schools to provide all staff, regardless of their first language, with the opportunity to fully understand and implement the safeguarding principles outlined in KCSIE Part 1. These translations are part of LGfL’s ongoing commitment to supporting schools in safeguarding children effectively.’
