Academy trust gives up schools following poor Ofsted inspections
The Department for Education (DfE) has agreed to terminate funding for the Education Fellowship Trust (TEFT) following concerns about educational performance from Ofsted.
This is the first academy chain to give up all of its schools, of which five of the 12 sponsored by the group are rated as “inadequate”.
The Trust is responsible for around 6,500 students in Northamptonshire, Wiltshire and Maidenhead in Berkshire.
They were issued with a termination warning last year following a series of poor Ofsted inspections and a fourth warning came in January.
The Trust said on their website that they had “requested to transfer all of its 12 academies to new sponsors following a review of current financial constraints facing the education sector and the misalignment of values with the DfE”.
Schools under the Trust will now have to be transferred to new sponsors.
