Online careers benchmark tool launched for schools

A new online tool has been launched to help schools measure the effectiveness of their careers advice.

Compass has been designed to enable secondary schools to compare their careers advice against eight nationally recognised benchmarks.

The self-assessment tool asks schools to honestly answer a series of questions about the careers provision they offer. On completion, Compass sends schools a confidential report showing how they compare to the Gatsby Benchmarks for Good Career Guidance.

It has won the backing of Teach First, the National Association of Head Teachers, the Association of School and College Leaders and the Careers Development Institute and gives schools the opportunity to return and repeat the assessment as they work to improve their provision.
