Special needs system ‘fragmented', says charity
The charity says the changes have caused confusion and a greater variation in the quality of help offered, and has subsequently called for a review of support for children with Send.
The report, Joining the Dots, emphasises the changes made through the Academies Act 2010 and the new 2014 SEN code of practice means that ‘navigating the system has become incredibly challenging for students, parents, schools and sector organisations’.
The Department for Education said it had received positive feedback about the changes from many families, as many have found the new system more straightforward.
