School attendance back to pre-pandemic levels

According to the Department for Education’s latest attendance survey data, attendance in state primary schools has returned to pre-pandemic levels and is now the highest it has been during the pandemic.
Primary attendance was 96 per cent on 22 April, which is generally in line with attendance in a typical academic year, and is up from 92% on 25 March.
Secondary attendance meanwhile rose over the same period from 87 per cent to 91 per cent.
Overall, attendance in all state schools increased from 90 per cent to 94 per cent, which is highest it has been at any point during the coronavirus pandemic, the DfE has said.
