To develop the pipeline of outstanding leaders and increase the capacity of MAT leaders capable of leading sustainable growth at scale, the Government has published the content that will underpin a MAT CEO development programme.
The content framework sets out the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to lead a large trust effectively, to ensure that every pupil is receiving an excellent education.
This content framework, which underpins the programme, was designed in collaboration with an expert advisory group.
The framework will form the basis of a professional development programme that will equip leaders with those capabilities.
The guidance is for organisations designing and delivering CEO development offers, including on behalf of the DfE, as well as serving and aspiring CEOs participating in development, especially where they are seeking to lead larger trusts. It is also for chairs of academy trustees in the assessment of potential CEO candidates, when supporting CEO development discussions, and in their own development.
