Efficiency advisors to help schools with finances
EB News: 19/12/2017 - 10:52
Efficiency advisors will be deployed next month to schools which need help with their finances.
As reported by Tes, the government is sending the advisors into schools from next month in order to provide urgent “financial therapy”.
The advisors, which cost around £400 a day, are being recruited by the Department for Education, and will enter schools from January as part of a pilot.
The advisors are school business managers from the Institute for Business Leadership (ISBL) fellows – and will be funded by the DfE.
They are expected to provide schools with tailored advice on how they can use their resources as effectively as possible.
The names of the schools selected to have the support, along with the criteria for choosing them, have not yet been disclosed.
Education Support, the charity dedicated to the mental health and wellbeing of teachers and education staff, has released its ninth Teacher Wellbeing Index.
Nearly two thirds of Initial Teacher Training providers believe that teachers are not currently prepared to meet the government’s ambition to raise the complexity threshold for SEND pupils entering mainstream schools.
England’s councils are warning of a "ticking time bomb" in the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) system, with new data showing deficits that could bankrupt local authorities within three years.
The regulations have been set following a second consultation and detailed collaborative working with organisations and people across deaf and hearing communities.
