Amanda Spielman confirmed as next Ofsted chief

Spielman’s appointment was confirmed by the Privy Council despite concerns from MPs.
Spielman was former education secretary Nicky Morgan’s preferred choice, but a cross panel of MPs, chaired by the Conservative Neil Carmichael, rejected Spielman, claiming she lacked the “passion and vision” for the role.
However, Spielman’s appointment was confirmed by the Privy Council. She will take over the role from Sir Michael Wilshaw when his term of appointment ends.
