Anti-Bullying Assembly to be streamed into schools

Youth charity The Diana Award and Nationwide Building Society will be hosting the first ever online 'Big Anti-Bullying Assembly' today, 28 September.

The assembly will be streamed into primary schools and homes across the UK welcoming students back to school and reminding everyone of the need for mutual respect and kindness in our schools and communities.

Children’s TV presenters Mwaka “Mwaksy” Mudenda and Richie Driss host the assembly, which features personal stories, messages, special performances and advice on how to identify and tackle bullying behaviour from famous faces including Peter Andre, Carrie, David and Talia Grant, Katie Leung, Twist & Pulse, Ade Adepitan, James McVey, Cel Spellman, Will Poulter, Hacker the Dog, Tyrone Mings and Gareth Southgate.

The assembly is part of a three-year partnership between The Diana Award and Nationwide Building Society to train over 10,000 young people as Anti-Bullying Ambassadors in primary schools across the UK.

The assembly follows recent stats commissioned by The Diana Award and Nationwide Building Society revealing half (51%) of young people who went to school and have ever been bullied at school, worried about going back to school after a holiday because of bullying and a third (33%) of young people were more worried than usual about returning to school after lockdown.

Further stats revealed that a quarter of young people (24%) had noticed more bullying around race just before and during lockdown and almost three quarters of parents (74%) believe it is a problem online
