Playrite

Who we are

A UK family owned business dating back to 1873, National Floorcoverings is a company steeped in heritage and tradition. Thirty years ago, Playrite branched out as its own division to fulfill a niche in the market for a company to develop, design and manufacture surfacing for sports and leisure. Today we are the only UK Company to manufacture needlepunch, tufted and woven surfaces all from our home in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

What we do

Playrite leads the way in artificial sports surfaces, and as one of the UK’s leading sports surface manufacturers and suppliers, they pride themselves on a commitment to quality and innovation. They offer an extensive range of artificial sports, leisure and playground surfaces, which carry full accreditation of the quality standards ISO9001 and the environmental management standards ISO14001.

Playrite are involved with both the sports and leisure industry, with their Playsafe range of impact absorbing flooring systems for play areas, school playgrounds and parks available in fun, bright colours. They understand that the selected surface needs to be simple to install and requires minimal maintenance in order to avoid unexpected costs or major disruption to playing time. Playrite customers can then enjoy the benefits of their choice of surface for many years to come.

Our Surfaces

Playrite consistently provides superior products and outstanding customer service, from tennis courts to rugby pitches to multi-sports areas. The reason for their success is a care for quality in sport, understanding customer’s needs to make their projects a financial success. Whether it’s under 7’s or a professional level match, a Playrite sports surface will give everyone the chance to play to the very best of their ability.

MUGA Surfaces

As the name suggests, a multi-use games area is one that can be used for a variety of different sports and activities. Understandably, they are becoming very popular with sports clubs, schools and other organisations that have limited spaces and need to get the best possible use out of a premium area. A MUGA will consist of an artificial, all-weather sports surface made with synthetic materials, which will typically include multiple pitch markings for different sports. Those pitch markings can be tufted into the product during manufacturing or alternatively cut in on site to reduce maintenance on repainting lines.

For MUGA installations, Playrite offers 6 surface options. Tufted surfaces with a high pile height are best for football and rugby, as they accurately recreate the feeling of a natural grass surface. However, for small ball sports such as hockey and tennis, a shorter pile tufted surface or needlepunch punch may be more appropriate.

Budget will of course be a key consideration. With Playrites range of MUGA surfaces, they can give you a number of different options in order to meet your budget.

Tennis Surfaces

Offering comfort underfoot as well as the surface’s ability to take spin and slice, you’re sure to find a product to suit your needs from Playrite’s  extensive tennis surface portfolio. From their indoor tennis surface to the industry leading outdoor clay court simulating product. Playrite surface engineered porosity system allows all-weather usage to maximise playing time and revenue potential.

Playrite offers a synthetic tennis surface range, which covers each of the ITF’s pace ratings. These tennis surfaces are designed to require the minimal amount of maintenance, especially Needlepunch surfaces. Both offer short pile sand dressed surfaces that need very little brushing and periodically require sand replacement. Annual maintenance is still essential to keep your synthetic surface to its peak playing performance.

Hockey Surfaces

All hockey surfaces manufactured by Playrite provide exceptional performance for all standards of hockey, from competitive hockey at a professional level to coaching, training and school level.

Playrite has a range of artificial surfaces suitable for hockey, some of which can also support multi-sport use. This allows for a wider range of sports to be played and is available in a choice of either tufted or needlepunch construction. All Playrite hockey surfaces are tested to meet FIH national performance standards.

Rugby Surfaces

Playrite sand and rubber crumb filled 3G surface products offer a safe, durable and consistent playing surface that interacts with the ball in a similar way to a natural grass pitch, but importantly, provides a highly engineered impact performance to manage the collision of players onto the surface. Covering all major rugby and football safety and performance accreditations, our synthetic rugby pitch opens up new possibilities for many clubs.

Playsafe

With systems suitable for all ages and a number of critical fall heights, there will be a Playsafe system to suit all budgets and needs. Playsafe systems are completed with Matchwinner Velour, a low maintenance, vandal resistant, sand-dressed surface that is available in a range of 14 bright colours which, thanks to our laser cutting technology, can be custom designed to create fun and educational shapes and patterns. Playsafe offers an excellent alternative to natural grass, bark-covered areas, wet pour and asphalt, providing a surface that is soft underfoot as well as being durable in any weather.

With a sport, leisure or playground surface from Playrite, you can be confident you’ve made the right decision as many of our surfaces meet relevant standards set by sports governing bodies such as the ITF, FIH and IATS FIFA equivalent.
