Fettes College - A place to live. A place to learn. A place to grow.

Situated in a stunning 100-acre campus, close to the heart of Edinburgh, Fettes College is a leading co-educational boarding school (7-18yrs).

Curious, creative, and kind, Fettesians aim high whilst understanding what it means to be a good person and give back.

The curriculum includes GCSE examinations followed by the opportunity to choose either A Levels or the International Baccaluareate in the Sixth Form. We make sure that each of our students makes the absolute most of their talents.

“Our students will leave the school knowing themselves, looking out for others, capable of thinking critically and ready to make a positive mark on their rapidly changing world. They will be bold and visionary yet compassionate; they will possess a global perspective and be ready to embrace the opportunities of the future.” Helen Harrison, Head.

Boarding houses are at the heart of Fettes life. All senior school students, day and boarding, are part of a boarding house and each believes their house is the best house. House spirit is strong.  With an extensive co-curricular programme, weekends at Fettes are vibrant and fun-filled. In the final year at Fettes, students live together in an U6th boarding house which offers excellent preparation for university life.

Innovation and creativity are key and exciting recent developments include:

  • Launch of our bespoke Middle School Diploma, giving the Middle Years (13-15) distinction and providing balance to the student’s academic programme. This unique qualification which sets students up for life in the Sixth Form and beyond recognises achievements outside the classroom and was shortlisted for Educational Resource (Secondary) in the Education Business Awards 2024.
  • Embedding Engineering, Enterprise and Technology within the curriculum, including Robotics, Structural Engineering, programming and 3D printing; with an option to take Higher Project Qualification at GCSE to focus on the skills learned through the course
  • Creation of our “This Will Be My World” Sixth Form lecture series from experts in their fields that support our Sixth Form to be students that have well informed opinions about the world around them.
