5-a-day Fitness is used by hundreds of schools around the world every day, to help increase in-classroom physical activity.

The ultimate fun fitness resource for primary schools, 5-a-day Fitness increases daily physical activity in your school with online, follow-along 5-minute exercise routines designed specifically to be used with classroom screens, or projected onto whiteboards.

The resources can be used in a variety of creative ways, at any time of the day, to enhance learning and the curriculum with ease. There’s no need to rearrange the classroom or change into PE kits*. A perfect opportunity to get pupils up and active first thing in the morning, a mid-lesson energy or brain break, a refocusing tool, use as part of a warm up or cool down during a PE lesson, or to use up any excess energy they may have after lunch or break time.

If every class used 5-a-day Fitness just once a day, perhaps first thing in the morning, that’s 25 minutes extra physical activity a week! The Primary School Sport Premium Funding can be used to purchase 5-a-day Fitness for your school. Designed with this in mind, the resource steadily ticks many requirements within the Government Schools Sports Premium. 5-a-day Fitness aims to help schools meet the Government target of providing an extra 30 minutes of daily exercise for pupils within their obesity strategy.

The first Key Indicator of the Government’s initiative is, “Engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity”**, 5-a-day Fitness can be used easily and effectively to help directly address this.

5-a-day’s Fitness Channel is a growing collection of 5-minute fun fitness routines with an array of different themes, from Pirates to Superheros, and Pop to Bollywood. These videos are aimed at getting pupils active and ready for learning. Resources can be easily be used at any time during the school day to increase physical activity levels.
Fun fitness video resources are also available on 5-a-day’s language channels, with Modern Foreign Language (MFL) voice-overs and on-screen translations. These cross-curricular language learning options are often used as active starters in MFL lessons, providing increased opportunities for additional structured physical activity time during language learning, making 5-a-day TV a great cross-curricular PE and MFL resource.

Many of the videos are available in French, Spanish and Welsh, and 5-a-day is currently working on offering additional languages. These language videos have optional on-screen Key Word translations, thereby improving language reading and listening skills. Our children are growing up in a truly global economy, the ability to speak a multitude of languages will be essential in the future.

The Time-2-Chill channel is a collection of 2-minute routines concentrating on relaxation, imagination, co-ordination and mindfulness. Living in a society where so much is asked of children from a young age, it’s no surprise to anyone in education that there is an increased occurrence of anxiety in young people, and a decrease in children’s concentration. The Time-2-Chill channel’s aim is to provide an opportunity for relaxation during the hustle and bustle of the school day. Time-2-Chill provides teachers with an easy to access resource, which will help the pupils to reconnect with the lesson and classroom environment, and support improved behaviour for learning.  
All of the resources are made in-house, with the music and choreography being written, created and licensed with education and school appropriateness in mind. Each activity routine enhances kinaesthetic learning, and utilises both audio and visual instructions and demonstrations. Resources are differentiated by complexity and speed, which is indicated by an easy to understand star rating system, additionally the language learning resources each have 3 levels of difficulty, making 5-a-day Fitness an amazing cross-curricular physical education and modern foreign language learning tool for Key Stage 1 and 2 (K-6).
