The government has announced it will be expanding the eligibility of free school meals, with every pupil whose household is on Universal Credit entitled from the 2026 school year.
A survey by school leaders’ union NAHT reveals that 98% of school leaders say their school does not have sufficient funding to fully meet the needs of its pupils.
