As an experienced teacher and school leader, working extensively with children and young people with SEN, poor literacy or experiencing social emotional or mental health difficulties and across several local authorities with children in care, I established Attuned Education to provide support for schools working with vulnerable students. My recently published book ‘Overcoming Barriers to Learning’ is a resource for staff within schools who are managing these learners in their classrooms each and every day.
We offer a comprehensive programme of training and consultancy to help teachers and school staff develop skills, deepen their knowledge and understanding and be more effective in supporting these learners, many of whom will not be ready to learn.
In collaboration with individual schools, or groups of schools we can analyse training needs and deliver comprehensive programmes for staff at all levels helping them to try new, innovative or creative approaches to manage behaviour and meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable children and young people within schools. We also work with senior leadership teams to develop programmes that ensure staff well-being and support.
