First Class Education’s Head of Education and Training, Peter Cobrin, gets really excited about their new programme for primary and secondary schools across London and the south-east.
African Adventures is a volunteer travel company that organises group trips for schools from across the UK.
Students volunteer with community projects in developing areas of Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar, providing them with a unique opportunity to learn outside the classroom through challenging and rewarding roles, involving teaching, building work and sports coaching. We work with teachers from the outset to deliver bespoke trips that meet the specific needs of students, and we have been awarded a Quality Badge from the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom; testament that our trips produce valuable educational outcomes.
We have a range of educational and relaxing adventure activities on offer away from volunteering, and these allow students to really ‘get under the skin’ of each country, further enhancing the experience. Cultural exchange is at the heart of our trips, as we believe this inspires meaningful and valuable learning; we pride ourselves on giving students an authentic insight into the world outside their classroom.
In our recent survey, 98% of students advised that the experience had provided them with personal development benefits, and that they would recommend our trips to other young people.
