Chief executive appointed for government property company

A new public property company set to help create 500 new free schools has appointed its new chief executive.

Property management consultancy boss, Lara Newman MBE has taken on the role at the £2 billion company, LocatED.

The firm will acquire land and buildings across the country to assist the government in building the schools by 2020, and 600,000 new school places by 2021.

Newman was awarded an MBE last year for her services as a property advisor on the free schools programme.

She said that the firm will work directly with landowners, agents and developers to “secure new free school sites whilst ensuring the best value for the taxpayer”.
